Chinese cooking

The major food source used in Chinese cooking is white rice. This bland, yet very versatile product can be prepared in a matter of minutes and add true value to the economical cooking form of Chinese food. The white rice has a variety of uses in Chinese food. It is used as a practical food source when served by itself, by millions of Chinese in China, and by Chinese-Americans that enjoy Chinese food and live throughout the United States. In authentic Chinese cooking, a wok is used to prepare a myriad of tempting treats. The wok is used to typically fry a wide range of vegetables and meats. One healthy aspect of Chinese food is that while cooking oil is used, the necessity for the food to linger in the oil is eliminated with the use of the wok. As food cooks in the wok, it can be manoeuvred to rest on the slanted sides of the wok to alleviate the threat of the food being overcooked where it loses its vitamins and becomes tasteless. The wok used in Chinese cooking is versatile and can be electrically powered or the cook can choose to use the open flames on a stove to prepare the delicious dishes. The wok in Chinese food is flared on the sides, with a small center cooking surface that is exposed more to the cooking heat. Chinese cooking allows for the vegetables to remain crunchy and light even after they have been immersed in delicate sauce mixtures. Fried pork is a primary meat choice on most Chinese cooking style menus in restaurants across the United States and the world. Peanut oil is used primarily to cook and fry Chinese cooking choices. This type of oil will give a nutty flavour to all foods that are fried in it. There is a popular sweet and sour sauce that is used in many restaurants that feature Chinese food. Another long time favourite of customers that relish Chinese foods are egg rolls, or cabbage rolls if you prefer. These egg rolls are small in stature and come in a variety of styles. They offer patrons the opportunity to test the different cooking styles available in Chinese food. From spring rolls, to egg rolls and won ton, this versatile dish can provide variety for any palette. Vegetarians typically prefer Chinese food restaurants because of the variety of vegetable selections available in the food sources as well as the marvellous salad bars that they feature in Chinese restaurants.
